if i ever have the misfortune to see alistair campbell on the street, i'll make sure he fully understands that he was in part responsible for the murder of nearly one million iraqi men, women and children.
@person9144 Campbell's defence of Blair has nothing to do with loyalty. He, too, is a war criminal, just like Blair. If/when Blair is brought to justice for his crimes, Campbell will be alongside him in the dock. His role during Blair's illegal wars was the equivalent of those of Joseph Goebbels and Julius Streicher during Hitler's.
@IsMyNameYourName This argument is so illogical. 1) There being a dictatorship is no excuse to invade a country. 2) The UN sanctions, after US urging, are the reason why things like child mortality were high under Saddam. 3) 75% of Iraq's oil has been divvied up between multi-national corporations. 5) Saddam was a secular dictator. By killing him, the Coalition of the Willing destabilized whatever there was and attracted the fundamentalists, plunging the country into a civil war. Need I go on?
It's almost as though some people think life under Saddam was all roses. People are happy to point out all the people who died because of this war, and all the people who have their families and lives destroyed. But it is as though people are completely ignoring what went on daily under the genocidal fascistic dictator that was overthrown. Did he not murder his own people? Killing masses, whether based on political views, ethnicity or even just to fulfill his own sadistic desires. No one cares?
@lonelysymphony exactly right. because of their decisions, headed by Bush, there are 2 million orphans in Iraq today -- these are children who will grow up with no parents, no family, and thus, no hope for a better future. does this man have the right to get emotional about all the inquiries? can he sleep at night knowing that he is indirectly responsible for the stunning loss of life in Iraq? perhaps he should visit the orphanages there to see with his own eyes, what they have done.
stick this cunt in prison with Blair
