...for thoses who don't know
the others know that monoski is as well as performed than snowboard
...because they saw monoskiers at the derby of The Meije (best of the World) ...often before the snowboarders !
at least in 2009, 2008, 2007, ...
but it's the same for speed in KL:
Monoski : Xavier COUSSEAU - France - 212,260 Km/h
Snowboard : Daren POWELL - Australie - 201,907 Km/h

there's not much of an advantage over skis now that there are powder skis but they help you learn proper ski technique (keeping your legs together).

what are the advantages of monoskies over skies/snowboards?

The biggest advantage over ski is in powder or heavy snow, you have the same kind of glide as a snowboard: better planning, angle and you don't have a ski on right and the other on left... glide is more pure! Over a snowboard, you can be faster because of the position, you can push on the flat, but it's really the same kind of sensations on the snow... Just position that makes monoski more for skiers, and snowboard more for surfers... See the movie "monoski warriors", and try yourself !!!

As written in the title, this event is a revival, that's why people are wearing clothes from the 80ies... And in this time, this suit was very fashionable! Actual wears are not so different, if you look on the slopes...
