America is not the melting pot that some would try to agree.The need to remind Americans of the HUGE FORCED contributions of African people in the US is due to the fact that many of the cultural groups mentioned, Asians,Irish,Italians,Jewish have been allowed to transform their 'contributions' into a foundation of success for their children that followed them. But not the African children. Thanks to the American system that these same groups built.

yes Black people built this country! you can't deny the multi billion dollar slave industry that was the engine of the early America and the cheap or free labor they contributed to propel the industrial revolution, the countless wars they fought and all the sacrifices they gave to USA without getting nothing, not even basic human right. I am not saying they are the only ones but you can't deny the major role blacks played in building this country ! it is a moral crime to do that

@veeseee128 While the blacks where "freed" from slavery, who was doing all the work? It was the Irish and Italians, they were the new whipping boys. They did all the dangerous jobs in all the northern cities (the only developed part of the country). Slaves in the south held back progression more than it helped anything. Even today looking at the south you can see how much the conservative whites hate progression and new technologies/science.
