Dachshunds are prone to spinal problems because of their length in relation to their height. The problem started when he slipped a disc. The first time he did it we rushed him to Fort Wayne for emergency spinal surgery and he regained all of his motor functions etc. About 2 months later he slipped another disc and it was so close to the prior time... See More it would have been a big risk putting him through another surgery so we opted for the rehabilitation, drugs, and wheelchair option. He is doing quite well, he can somewhat hobble without it, and he may very well regain all of his functions and not need it in the future, but for now he is doing quite well with it. Go Oscar!
