Mabuhay Alliance extends help to homeowners in the Bay Area with free Foreclosure Prevention Clinics. DALY CITY—Mabuhay Alliance, a nonprofit organization that provides resources and services to the Pan Asian and other underserved communities for home ownership retention and small business growth and development, formally opened a new office in Daly City last Friday, December 11. With this new office, Mabuhay Alliance is determined to help homeowners in the Bay Area through their various programs.Among those who attended the formal opening and strategic meeting were realtors and brokers from different part of the Bay Area. "Sec. Geithner has a goal to modify 365,000 homes by December 31. Today, I have met most of them to help us reach at least 400 homeowners by December 31," said Faith Bautista, Executive Director for Mabuhay Alliance.

With this, Mabuhay Alliance will be giving FREE Foreclosure Prevention Clinics to serve the homeowners in the Bay Area. On December 21, 22 and 23, housing and mortgage counselors will assist homeowners for free at the Allen Temple Baptist Church at 8501 International Blvd. in Oakland from 4 to 8 pm. They will also have another Foreclosure Prevention Clinic in San Jose on December 28 and 29 at a venue to be announced later.

Mabuhay Alliance will also implement their programs on micro lending, the supplier diversity, the low-income efficiency program and the advocacy group that they have been doing successfully for the past 8 months.

"We really need to empower the Filipino community," said Bautista and added, "This is our year. The 2010 will be a magnificent year for the Filipino community. "The whole goal of Mabuhay Alliance is economic empowerment, home ownership and hopefully politics."

The Greenlining Institutes Bob Gnaizda was the guest of honor who led the ribbon-cutting ceremony. "Mabuhay is much greater than anyone here can imagine. Mabuhay is now the leading Filipino-American organization in the country. It is also the leading Asian American organization in the country in terms of advocacy," he said during his short speech and added, "And is the leading Asian American organization in the country in terms of home foreclosure."

Bautista also announced that Mabuhay has collaborated with First American for Project Restore that is aimed to restore homeowners that have lost their homes, that are about to lose their homes and the unbanked and underbanked. Unbanked refers to illegal immigrants, while underbanked refers to families who rely on payday lenders to access cash.
