The art event was both a tribute and an attempt to launch again the Haitian Art that suffered such a loss in the earthquake on January 12.

A tribute to Mrs. Francine Murat who practically devoted her life not only to promote the haitian art but also to make of the Haitian Art Center in Port-au-Prince an establishment where the Haitian artist would feel at home. It would support ,help and teach the coming generation of painters about all aspect of the art while they are allowed to grow in an environment where they can express freely their feelings in their work. Mrs.Murat passed shortly after the quake of natural cause nonetheless probably subsequent to the disaster. The destruction of the Art Center carried the loss of numerous valuable pieces of art. Also The Cathedral of Saint Trinite abhorred irreplacable master pieces paint by Haitian artist.

An attempt to relaunch the artistic movement in Haiti. The Haitian Art, beside being a livelihood for so many, is par excellence, a perfect reflexion of the Haitian culture and therefore need to be preserved.
