The "Best Women Athlete of the year Award" goes to: Cheng Fei. Congratulations to Cheng Fei!

Every year, the CCTV's Best Women Athlete Awards only go to the most influential athletes. Incidentally, a 19 year old gymnast, Cheng Fei, won this award in Spring, 2007. Fei had never been an Olympic Champion before this, how was she able to become a topnotch athlete of 2007?!

Fei was first known to the world at Melbourne World Championships in November, 2005. The "Cheng Fei Vault" propelled her to be the brightest star in the Chinese sports scenes.
Perhaps most people can't recall; the 180 degree back flip twist with a 540 degree extended front twist was professionally and satisfactorily executed, and the world had seen the birth of the "Cheng Fei Vault", and that there's a little girl in the Chinese Gymnastics Team, named, Cheng Fei.

In 1988, Fei was born in Yellowstone, Hu Bei.
She spent her earliest part of her childhood in a poor but heartwarming, aged building.
When Fei was 4, her parents had wanted to send her for table tennis training, and on the way there, they had met an old friend who was a gymnastic coach. Ever since, Fei started her life of gymnastics in a gym school at Yellowstone.

Lady coach: I took the kids to an excursion in the mountains. There was a small waterfall and I told the kids that it was divine water, that anyone who washes their feet and their heads in it, will have powerful legs and especially bright minds. Of course, I was just kidding. But Fei was like, "Really!!", and went ahead to wash her feet and rinse her head. Right that moment, I knew this girl had the heart for it.

Back then, Fei walked with an awkward inward insteps. Coach Chi Mung helped corrected that and build the basics for a pair of extremely strong legs, this laid out the path of success for Fei.
Fei: Coach kept pointed out my errors until it became a second nature for me to do them right.

If it was to be said, that it was Fei's parents' choice that led Fei to the path of success; then it would be true to say that, their efforts over the years for her, was

Fei's motivation to grow, to strive forward.

When Fei started her training, her parent's combined income was only 700 yuan.
Fei's Papa: Once we paid her tuition, there wasn't enough for groceries.

Actually, that wasn't enough for Fei's tuition. Her parents bought a glove making machine and work late at night to earn 20 cents for each pair made.

Papa: We basically slept at 2 to 3am and had to work next morning.

Fei: I felt that my family had gone to the bottom most state.

But, even under extreme hardships, Fei's parents did not give up their support to their girl.

Fei: My papa could come up with such ideas for my training, some kind of supplementary training. He made kinds of equipment for me to train whenever I was home.
Papa:When she was little, this is what she practiced her flips with. She went over and over her moves. She strengthened her arms and her grips with this.

Fei: I was so proud of him. He could come up with such improvisations. Most parents would not get involved like that, they would just say, 'train hard' or something like that.
But my Pa made the effort to help me bring out my potentials.
Pa: We couldn't provide her with much, that was the best we could do for her.

Fei: Back then, I had nothing to help them in return, the only thing I knew was that, I must work hard, go through the toughest if I must. Only then, would I have the opportunity to repay my Papa and Mama.

A girl that was once left forgotten in the training hall. A girl who lives for gymnastics. Ten years of prepared readiness, just for the blooming of that one moment. Gymnastics World Champion: Cheng Fei.

I absolutely have a great amount of respect for Cheng Fei and what she has done for past, present, and future for the Chinese gymnastics team!

I truly wish to see her in the 2012 London Olympic games and accomplish her personal goal! If anyone can do it, it's Cheng Fei! :D
