How to Build a Pond on a Budget

A few weeks ago Anna's mom had mentioned that she would love a pond in her back garden, so I looked around to see how much it would cost to build one and its turns out it is quite expensive. You can hire a pond building specialist or you can buy a preformed plastic base either way its going to cost you anywhere from €500 to €5000!! So I though it cant be too hard to build one... you dig a hole.. put in some sort of lining and than fill it with water.. It took me 2 days to complete the pond at a cost of €40.

anybody who wants to build a pond to attract wildlife may as well do a little reading about it. Increase the water-land boundary as much as possible. Have a shallow slope at one end. rocks are good because they regulate water temperature.

I built my own pond last year & my eye picks up every imperfection. The pond looks unsightly bcos it's got too much liner exposed on one side. Also never buy a cheap liner, it's cheap for a reason, it will fail in time.
