4 Battery Explosions

With improved test rig and 400 Volts at the primary of the transformer. I added a 170 Volts booster TX via the variac to get about 30 Volts and up to 60 Ampères for cooking the batteries.
Also a glass safety shield was inserted between the operator (myself or one of my kids) and the camera which was put on a tripod.

I've managed to get some spectacular explosions, as well, don't hesitate to use even more voltage and current, I managed to get big bands in just a few seconds, you can pump several hundred amps through those D Duracell's, the cheap zinc carbon Eveready go pop too, with a black carbon dust blasted all over the jig. It's good fun, excellent video.

Here's your problem: you mixed and matched batteries. It says on the package not to do that. They won't guarantee performance when you do.
