How old do you have to be to do this? I am 13 and I think this whole thing is enormously cool. I have tried checking out the SCA page too...

SCA youth combat is open to 6-17 year olds, and it's a lot of fun. Each kingdom has it's own rules so you'll need to find your local chapter to join in the fun. SCA.org has a find you local group button on the right hand side of the front page. Once you know your kingdom then use the kingdom website link to find your local group. Youth Combat is under the Knight Earl Marshal's office when you find your local chapter, but any officer in the chapter, should be able to help you find out more.

Where is this? I'm 13, and I fight with rattan.

@123qwe910 In AnTir in The Rivers Region. This movie was taken before the 2008 rule rewrite, and the swords were made with a PEX core. In 2008 the rules changed to 3/4 inch rattan, which is a much better sword material. My more recent videos have youth rattan swords in use.

This is YOUTH combat?! they look like adults!... or is it just the fact that I'm, like, 13?

@diggle149 Both combatants were in their early teens when this was filmed. They were as tall as the adult marshal, so that might make their age less clear. They did fight well and with honor, which helps make them look more like adult combatants. All my combat videos are of youth combat. One give away that they are youths, is one of the combatants is wearing an ice hockey helmet, which is only acceptable for youth padded sword combat, in the SCA.

In SCA combat when a combatant hits the other on the leg in a shot that would disable the leg were the weapons real, the person hit will drop to his knees to show he has taken a disabling blow. The other combatant can choose to stay standing or can drop to his knees too. It's an honor in combat thing.
