In the heartbreaking aftermath of earthquake, tsunami, cyclone, floods in Japan, New Zealand, Australia and continuing situation in Japan; I recommend this as a momentary meditation, to help to slow breathing and feel hope rising.. Take a few minutes, see and hear and breathe... and believe.. with hope comes life !

The sequence of drawings created with stop-motion animation narrates the blossoming wild daisy flowers' journey and life cycle.

The "clearings" of the light table are not random. Each clearing is a new stage as the flowers moved through their life cycle.

When the daisy flowers lost their petals and drooped, they seemed to be entering their final stage. But surprisingly they began lifting their heads again ! The withered flower heads opened up revealing many emerging buds with new flowers - the seeds, which fly away with the wind.

My artwork was created using sand on a home made light table.
Capturing the images was done with a digital SLR.
Over 600 images were captured, eventually about 500 images were chosen that reflected the natural progression of the life cycle of wild daisy flowers.

Canopus Edius was used to edit down the intial 600+ images down to 500.

The duration of each picture was set before the adding of any music.

The music by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was my first and only choice to perfectly express the emotion of wonder and joy of the blossoming, withering, then re-emerging of flowers.

The music track was purchased online using BigPond Music Australia.
