  • @howmer001 - I saw rhis episode in reruns on Nickelodeon late one night with my sister, and when he said that about the "afro beat" my sister and I looked at each other in utter disbelief. I thought I was the only person who remembered that line!! I don't know what "Beat"this song has, but I would have to say that "afro" is not it!

  • @Hummelchen1966 I was playing craps as Mohegan Sun in CT a few years ago; while I played some guy and his band were playing to a packed house on the casino's open center stage. The women there, mostly older, were going crazy. I turned to the guy next to me and said, "Those chicks are screaming like its David Cassidy out there!" He replied "It IS David Cassidy!" Didn't think much of him before, but he absolutely burned the joint down that night - Best version of "Gimme Shelter" I ever heard!

  • Pryor's partner in "Soul Club" is Louis Gossett Jr.

  • David Cassidy had a great voice!

  • More cowbell, Shirley!

  • @TypesALot It's so randomly, off-the-cuff offensive, it's actually hilarious! It was funny then, but even funnier now in this day and age! He's lucky Richard Pryor didn't have any pull in the industry back then (that's apparent by the fact that Pryor's appearing on, of all things, "The Partridge Family") - that line would have been unceremoniously dropped ASAP. I guess Richard needed the money too much to complain!

  • @howmer001 If Pryor was ever going to drop a "m*****f*****" during the taping, THAT was the point I'd choose for him! This song is good, but it's about as "afro" as "White Christmas" . . . and I like the fact that, apparently, Chuck D and a couple of S1Ws travelled back in time to appear in this scene . . .

  • I recall that during this episode, "Soul Club", David (looking for a way to connect musically with the black neighborhood with a new song) said with a straight face to the two club owners (played by, of all people, Richard Pryor and Lou Gossett), "I'm looking for something with an AFRO beat!" I was nine when this episode came out, and I still laughed my ass off at that line! Ah, so innocently, deliciously patronizing! Gotta love TV in the awkward late 60s/early 70s!

  • It's on of my fav Song from the Partridge and is so wonderful and peaceful to see all they Black and White, they Dance and sing together! David Cassidy is After Elvis for me the Most amazist singer! Danny Boneduce is so lovley and to smiling as Danny Partridge!Absolutly an excpirence to all of this Songs again to hear on a Trip in the 70's on the DVDs!:)
