Forgive me, this sounds ludicrous although I watched this series faithfully way back when, but I just suddenly wondered what the dolphins you see romping along beside the convoys thought was happening when torpedoes and depth charges started going off.

@latenightpilgrim V@S was originally produced in 1950/51 as THE first mini-series documentry and aired on NBC during 1952/1953 on Sunday afternoons during the normal season between October 26, 1952 and May 3,1953. All 26 episodes were edited into a movie in 1954.
It is available in VHS,LaserDisc, DVD and in July 2010 will be available in BlueRay.
I personally think it is THE best of all documentaries ever made. I never missed an episode with my parents.

I recall watching this series on TV in the early 60's.........terrific!

Both my parents remember this war vividly as did my grandparents. My father was in China when the Japanese have invaded it. My mother was in Berlin, Germany. My grandmother lived through the WWI and WWII. My uncle was incarerated at a POW Kamp, Sachsenhausen. He survived and fled as well. My early years were filled with dread over a thermonuclear war. But I recall this series on TV which we, as kids would watch. I liked the soundtrack too. Thank you for uploading this.

@leewonnacott Pretty sure they have episodes with the Coast Guard mentioned.
Yes, they did play a large part in the war.
Well, they COULD have mentioned the assistance of the US Coast Guard! Notice at 6:20 and 8:45 - those are COASTIES being shown performing their duties. Semper Paratus is our Guide, our Fame, our Glory too!

Ah Yes, this series is great!
Back in the day when Documentaries werent 100% biased. The fact they mention the Royal Canadian Navy so much reflects this.
This is a great series, I look forward to watching the rest.
Thanks for uploading this.
