@delvertje1995 It's iodine obviously. It says so in the title. Iodine turns from solid to gas easily so it gives off vapors when slighly heated. Even at room temp, it gives off vapors. Some of seems to be liquid probably because they heated above 114 C.

Iodine DOES form a liquid at 387 K (114°C / 237°F)

Iodine has a melting point about about 236F.

In most state changes - a chemical changes from solid - liquid - gas, or vice versa. However, some chemicals like Iodine sublime, which means they go from solid - gas.

It does, but in a relatively narrow temperature range. That, and the high volatility of the substance, make the iodine liquid phase pretty difficult to be seen, but make no mistake: liquid iodine can be achieved under standard pressure (1 atmosphere)
