Kim Jong Il has been calling for a return to six-party talks and a resolution to North Korea's nuclear programs. Last week, on his way back home from a trip to Russia, the North Korean dictator made a stopover in China.
Lumbering across Asia in his armored train, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il made a stop in northeastern China last Thursday and Friday. He repeated the statement he made in Russia earlier this week, that he's willing to stop nuclear production and testing and to re-start international talks.
In this CCTV footage, state-run media shows Kim meeting officials and touring factories. It's believed he suffered a stroke in 2008 and little has been seen of him since. The two communist regimes have long been allies, with the Chinese regime being one of North Korea's biggest economic supporters.
For years, North Korea has been trying to develop its nuclear program. It's believed it posses enough weaponized plutonium to make at least six atomic bombs and is developing long-range missiles capable of carrying nuclear bombs.
Though Kim Jong Il says he's willing to restart the six-party talks unconditionally, not all involved are as eager. Russia and China are in agreement, whereas Japan, South Korea and the United States are willing to start talks only if North Korea shows it's serious about denuclearization and working towards repairing relations between the North and South.
