Chicken.. wing.. bah, either way nice gun! Love the laminated stock on your M44.

You're shooting carbine correct, with bayonet extended. When folded, point of aim is off. Flash likely due to slower burning powder with round for longer barrel such as for Dragunov or M91 long rifle or even the Tokarev. When shot in shorter barrel, flash occurs from unburnt charge. Laminated stock, nice carbine.

the m44 was used more in Vietnam than WW2, but the m44 was used late in second world war don't get me wrong. m91/30 was the main battle rifle for the Russians in ww2

you can pull a rifle tighter to your shoulder if your elbow is down. i dont know what the guy above me is talking about

I own a M91, one that the Russians sent to Remington and New England Westinghouse in 1916. My old man bought from someone for 90-some-odd dollars, with over 100 rounds included in the deal.
Sure, the ol' Westinghouse is beat to hell, but it still fires like...some old Russian's wet dream...and I digress. Now, does anyone know where I could find replacement bolt assembly; old man cut off the original bolt handle and welded on a new one when he tried to mount a scope on it...

Chicken Wing is actually the correct way to shot a rifle.

Additionally, the right arm "chicken wing" does a few other good things too. The shoulder pocket increases in size considerably when your elbow is up. The stock is also raised up a little more, closer to your cheek, and your hand and arm is more correctly aligned with the trigger.

whats with the chicken wing?
love the sound of the reload.

Technically the "chicken wing" is only incorrect in tactical shooting. For sport or target shooting, you want to pull the stock in as tight to the shoulder as possible, and since you can exert more force onto the rifle with your elbow out at an angle, the "chicken wing" actually aids shooting. The support arm, holding the foreend of the weapon, is the one that needs to be directly underneath the firearm to bear the weight and stabilize your aim.
