Democratic Senators today discussed how the Senate health care bill - the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act - will help strengthen our economy and create and retain jobs. This isnt just a health care bill, it is a job creation bill that will create opportunities for more physicians and nurses, said Senator Chuck Schumer. If youre going to bring more people into the health care system, it stands to reason that you need more health care professionals to treat them. This bill will meet that demand by creating more jobs in the health sector. Highlighting the critical importance of health insurance reform to small businesses, Senator Patty Murray said, "Small business owners are struggling to provide their employees with coverage as costs rise and less coverage means more uninsured workers, lost productivity and a drag on our economy. That is why Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act addresses skyrocketing health care costs and will make it more affordable for small businesses to provide coverage for their employees."
