This documentary, hosted by Dave Despain, features incredible footage from the 1971 NHRA SuperNationals in Ontario, Ca. There are neat interviews with Dick Landy and classic footage of Top Fuelers and Funny Cars. This two-parter is 30 minutes in length.

Yes....RIP Dick Landy...for sure. Man, what an absolute joy to hear his mean old hemi under hard launches. Those hemis always had such a brutally different sound to them compared to either the big block Chevys or Fords.
And to see those "slingshot" rails....whew! Guess I'm getting old. I can remember at the dusty old Tucson Dragway in the mid 60's the rails being push started at the finish line, then criss-crossing into their staging lanes at the starting line. Then being started by a flag!!

I hope DP will release all of their old footage on DVD. This was great! Loved seeing Dandy Dick again (RIP). He did some work for me in the early 90's and I got the shop tour from his son Robert, and his brother and engine man, Mike helped me out with my build. Dick was very friendly, and the engine ran strong. Man, he was brutal on the line! He would redline that hemi and side-step the clutch and either launch like a rocket or blow the driveshaft out on the track, which I saw several times.

Ok, just throwing this out there but did you notice how the video said that the sport was only about 20 years old?? That means the video was made in the late 70's that's pretty good for back then.
