An obscure Apple Computer history archive video from the first Software Dispatch CD ROM:
Before it became common or practical to buy and download software from the web, Apple Computer Inc. had a product called Software Dispatch. This CD ROM had demo software, along with full versions that could be unlocked when you called the toll free number to purchase any of the software programs. A single program ran off the CD, that gave a catalogue of all the software, with descriptions etc, that allowed you to access the programs. This particular free CD ROM was from 1994, (actually created December. 1993), and the booklet with the CD says that the CD expires December 31, 1994. I remember spending countless hours trying to "hack" the CD ROM to get access to the full versions, but was never successful. (I was a kid at the time, and do not condone stealing software.) The CD is labeled "Winter 1994 CD ROM # 1", so I believe this is the first edition of of this program. This video, is the "intro" video that plays when you launch the main program on the CD.
Sounds like the alpha version of the Apps store. :)
