IHB-7 with a pair of Erie Lackawanna SDP45's, is running west bound on the ex-ERIE 4 track mainline at Hohokus New Jersey. EL 3658 is leading, with many neat 40' box cars in tow, The second clip is TV98 east bound with four Erie Lackawanna GP35's. The last clip is at Glen Rock station as a east bound local is lead by EL GP35 #2572. These where taken in July 1975 with an old Kodak Super 8mm sound movie camera. The quality, and sound id not up to par, but it is some vintage stuff. Thanks for looking. Jackmp294

  • My favorite Fallen Flag railroad! My great-grandfather was the engineer aboard EL 831. I think it was an EMD E8. He was with them from the merger to a few weeks before Conrail. Quit when Conrail took Penn Central claiming " With the problems we are having, we're next on the to-do list!"

  • Long live the EL!

  • def. some old school power...wish i was around in the 70's man i love these old gp's. EMD!

  • I wonder are any of those cas still in use today

  • Old school power!

  • That's good stuff Jack. The longer frame on the SDP45 also allowed for a 5000 gallon fuel tank. This would allow the unit to run from Chicago to NY without having to refuel. This rarely worked because all too often, we ran other units with the SDP45s and so the power still needed to be refueled enroute.
