At the end, where Gordon is smashing out the Bat-signal on the roof of the MCU, I'm the cop standing right next to him, holding the crowd back. I was also on the stage when the Joker shot at the Mayor, hitting Gordon instead, but the camera angles were such that I'm not seen in that scene (darn it!)...
Ledger was so cool! Between takes, he would stand back, smoke a cigarette, balance the rifle on his shoe, laugh with the cast and crew...a genuinely nice guy. When Nolan yelled, "Pictures up", Ledger would take a step, get into character, and then become the Joker. It was an honor to watch him in action.
