MITAVIAN - Fo Liman Ba Malu

This is the first album released from a group called MITAVIAN. The name was taken from the name of the singers themselves who are Mitu, Tata, Vie and Anna. They are at their final year at Institusi Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta (Institute of Art Indonesian). Amitu and Tata are majoring in Music (classical piano), whereas Vie and Anna are majoring in Dance. Their first album was actually released in February 2008 but the video clip itself was firstly broadcasted by the local Timorese television TVTL at the end of May 2008. The main song called "Fo Liman Ba Malu" which means "hand in hand" was composed in 2007. The idea for composing this piece was inspired by the situation in Timor-Leste itself which is longing for peace in the country; hence the song "fo liman ba malu" is part of an expression of the feeling to have peace and unity in Timor-Leste. The album contained 11 pieces of which nine were in Tetum and two were in Bahasa and most of the pieces were delivered by Tata, who is known to have series of albums in Maluku, Indonesia- his origin. The composer of all the pieces in this album is Domingos F.B.C. Freitas who is known as Amitu who was born in Dili on 3 July 1983. This album is not the first pieces composed by Amitu, his first song was composed since he was still in Junior high school (SMP 2 Dili), and one of his pieces one selected as one of the songs for the 2002 Parliamentary election with title "Ita Hotu Hili". Amitu's talented was shown since was about 10 years old, where he started playing organ in the church and since then he has been actively involved in leading the Motael church choir group. Amitu is expected to graduate in February 2009 with classification of Sarjana Music (bachelor of Art in Music), he will be the first Timorese graduate in music from reputable university.
