Editing and Montage - Surveillance Society [HD]

This video has been created for my Editing and Montage unit at university in which i was given the brief to:
Produce a 3-minute video, made up of own original video and sound, that explores the potential of montage as an aesthetic form. The montage should not attempt to tell a story, but it should attempt to generate certain moods, meanings, thoughts or feelings in the mind of the viewer.

You take your time building up a picture of anxiety and even paranoia. Both through editing and shot selection you play with ideas such as the Kuleshov effect, spatial and intellectual montage. The sound track works well although there may be room for exploring more contradiction between sound and image. Use of masks adds another layer of surveillance and your film thereby becomes a part of the same all-seeing system it investigates. Good work.
