Second part of some exquisite playing by Valentina Lisitsa, filmed by me in London, Abbey Road Studios, December 6th, 2009. It's some of my footage of Valentina doing solo take recordings of a few segments of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.4, as part of her Rachmaninoff Project with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), conducted by Michael Francis and produced by Michael Fine. For this project with the LSO Valentina recorded at the Abbey Road Studios in London Rachmaninoff's piano concertos 1,2,3, and 4 and Rachmaninoff's Paganini Variations in September 2009 (piano concerti 1 and 2), in December 2009 (piano concerti 3 and 4) and in March 2010 (Paganini Variations).

  • Is she practising the solo parts from the concerto or is she rehearsing the work as solo piano without orchestra? Valentina please release more dvds not just cds.

  • @carlcarp43 : these are solo takes and that's common procedure in classical music recordings. It will take too far and too much space to explain further. Valentina recorded with orchestra the day before and the day after these solo takes. Her playing with the LSO was fabulous.

  • I love her style . Just look at 4:40- 5:00. that's class.

  • Wearing those boots, she belongs on top of a horse, yes, in Hollywood, packing a Colt in her holster. How fast is she on the draw? For a cowboy, sorry, a cowgirl, plays amazingly good piano. Steiway grands in the Wild West in any significant profusion?

  • There is no question in my mind that she will go down as the greatest female pianist of our time.

  • Fantástico
