I saw this lineup at the Concert Hall in Toronto and they were erratic but great. First 20 minutes were lousy and then all of sudden at "Waitress in the Sky," they kicked in... oddly enough, the first Westerberg solo lineup was great- wish the SNL Can't Hardly Wait tune was here someplace... sad to listen to Westerberg now, it's so repetitive, so weak...
Yea, I Guess You Could Say Bob Left 'To Form SomeThing Of His Own'. Yet To 'Come Back' (only one 'pop star' has pulled that off, to date). This Here Is The Half-Mats (better than none, lesser than best), w/the anti-Bob Slim Dunlap & anti-Chris, Steve Foley, + A Clean(er) & Sober(ish) Paul & Tommy. 'You Be Me For Awhile & I'll Be You' - Check. Producer Jim Dickinson Said The Mats Were Best When Half-In-The-Bag. Like A Busted Clock, Mostly Wrong, But Every Now & Then, Right On Fucking Time. Yea!!!

"Paul Is The Brains Of The Band, But Tommy Is The Balls" - Prod Jim Dickinson
"Yeah, Tommy's The Balls…And The Dick" - Paul Westerberg.

agree with inbklyndust
i was in my early 20's in the mid eighties and went to the entry/ave to see these guys all the time, this formation did nothing for me.
RIP bobby stinson, you were the heart of the mats
