Awesome job young man!!! Your good enough to jam already. Get your parents to find a guitarist and a few more friends over...kick back outside, have a bonfire even....and just play. You'll be THE life of the party. Fiddles are cool!!! and your good enough to play with any of em.

What the h***? ALL great fiddlers are men. Buddy McMaster, Howie McDonald, Winston Scotty Fitzgerald, Darol Anger, JP Cormier, Vassar Clements, too many to name. But yeah most any fiddler from Cape Breton who is any good is a man, might want to tell him that eh?

My son took fiddle lessons 15 years ago, when he was 9 years old. The Old Time Fiddlers sponsor a lot of fiddle contest, and it's amazing how many youngsters (including many boys) participate...and do very, very well. Keep up the good work, young man! If there's an OTF chapter near you, you might want to check them out.

You can show him many boys who play the fiddle, here in Youtube, just search for "fiddle kid" or "fiddle 8" the age you want. I'm sure he will enjoy videos of other kids. Good Luck!
