I believe that really in Mass Effect 3 there were two main endings. One of the three you have to pick at the end of the game, and the game itself. The game really is the ending. It's like in Lord of the Rings, each book is separate and have their own climaxes and such, but as a whole, return of the king is really the ending of the series. Even though the ending was bad, the game itself was amazing. And each subplot had it's own great ending, like should you kill or save the Krogan or the Geth.

You die, and you get to watch a cutscene of how sad your friends are while your girlfriend/boyfriend puts your name on the "memorial wall".

Uh...no they weren't? The Geth and Quarians never even had contact after the Quarians were chased off of Rannoch...

The Geth didn't want to chase them. They had no problems with peace...Sovereign is the only reason the Heretic's even broke away and attacked organics. So yeah, you're oh so incredibly wrong. =)

And considering all the plot holes in the original ending? Hmm, clearly they didn't put that much thought into it. The things they overlooked is astonishing.
