That's probably cause the cats got yelled at, swatted at, sprayed with a water bottle if they ever tried to hurt the bird. Naturally, if the owners weren't there conditioning them, they'd eat the fuckin' thing without batting a whisker!

lol reminds me of my cat and bird. People ask me if they get along and I always tell them...like brothers... Those two are constantly arguing and bugging the hell out of each other. My parents call and they say I'm like a real parent cause I'll yell at the boys mid-sentence. the bird especially is very bossy and kind of a punk. and the cat just likes to mess with people.

They've actually become great friends as time passed. The've often had more than enough opportunity to eat him but instead they let him eat with them. They give him a good bash if makes himself too much of a pest but they never really hurt him - and he just comes back for more.

It was already missing when I adopted him, must have been in some accident or something. The tail has since grown back fully though.
