A couple ads from the 1970 Ford Maverick ad compaign, and a little extra bonus with a 1973 Mercury Comet ad (cameo by a Cougar friend). Great rare old commercials! Thanks to dmhines from mmb.maverick.to

  • I miss the Mercury ads with the cat in them. With mercury sales plunging its time to bring back the cat!!

  • My Grandma had a '73 Comet that was rusted so badly (Michigan winters and salt used to be REALLY rough on cars) that she lost a gallon of bleach from the trunk while coming around a curve on the way home from the grocery store.

  • I have a 66 Comet. I wish mine had the little cougar option. It would be easy to pick up girls with that cute kitty riding shotgun!

  • Excelente comercial com direito a um cowboy tipico americano e claro o nosso bom e velho maverick.

  • Tne Comet commercial was for a 1974 and not a '73. The '74 had the larger front bumper.

  • @slay63

The cat died. Mercury is gone.

  • @Silvertrine

I find it amazing when crackheads come up with comments like that.

What exactly do you drive something like a VW micro bus? :)

  • @slay63 Kinda too late for that now...

  • i have a 75 maverick with the straight 6 200cc, bought it for 600$ from my neighbor. only hhas 37,xxx miles and has sat in a garage for 15 years. when i put a battery and gas in it it started right up

  • personally i really wish they would make a new version like they did with the mustang, of course it wouldnt be like the original, but they should at least give it some consideration.

  • the first car i ever bought as well as the first car i ever owned which was the same car was a 1970 ford maverick. it was my baby. i sure wish i had it back now. the maverick was a hard car, made back when they made things right. i learned alot about the maverick back in them days and over the years. who could ever forget that trademade squeaking it made going down the road, if it didnt squeak, you worried that somthing was wrong with it. brings back wonderful memories, thanks for posting

  • My Dad bought a new Maverick in 72. The body rusted away in about 3 years, it wouldn't put out any heat in the winter and you roasted in summer but it got us around for a few years.
