I prefer this version to the ones released with Garfunkel, it's got more of an empty, pained, heartfelt feeling to it. The whole Songbook album's good though.

I found an old notebook in my house just a couple of mins ago. It had these lyrics written on it. I was mesmerized by the lyrics and it almost sounded familiar to me.

Someone almost 30 years ago wrote these words down, listening to the record over and over again until they could write it nice and neat on a small page.

The date says "December 30th 1981"

This song has a new meaning for me :)

@SirStriebGriebling this album is brilliant beyond words...subsequent recording of these songs are inferior - despite the baroque tenor of artie and assorted production fascists of the mid-60s - who were determined to make the purest sound resemble 'rubber soul'...it wasn't until 'bookends' that simon rediscovered his pure simple, complex style with songs like 'overs' and 'punky'...
