For now, I'm just uploading a low-res video, hoping YouTube won't ruin the sound quality to much that of the video's resolution. I have a higher-res version prepared, but it'd mean 4 hours of non-stop uploading (instead of just about an hour with the current version) and compression made the video quality unbearable in the middle of it. It doesn't make any sense, since most of the video is just the same frame of Torment wallpaper with the name of the track at the bottom. If you could manually compress it, it would suffice to declare just about 7 or 8 frames and that leaves only the subtitles at the beginning and at the end. It would result in a high-res video in a file size of less that 50 MB (so that the music comes through nicely). But enough about technical issues!

Planescape: Torment is one hell of a story in a game that allows you to see new things and visit new places every time you play it. It's wicked style and storytelling is fitted with a matching soundtrack, samples of which you're probably listening to right now. There's only one thing some people might not enjoy about Torment's score: the main theme is repeated in various arrangements all the time. Believe it or not, it was no small feat to pick some sounds for this vid without too much of the main theme in them. Still, that is one awe-inspiring piece of music.

Oh, and for the next vid, I'm still thinking what to choose. Any ideas? Let me know in the comments, if you'd like Arcanum, Jade Empire, Modern Warfare 2 or World of Goo - those are the games that I'm considering.

  • Its a shame this game was overlooked back when it was released, but its got a nice cult following now. The soundtrack is absolutely breathtaking. This is a Bioware game, the fact that it was so overlooked is a bit shocking.

  • @TheZorch Not BioWare. Sure, it's a BioWare engine, but the game was made by BlackIsle and published by Interplay.

  • yep. arcanum is one hell of a masterpiece.

  • @doee990 I think that's about time I uploaded the Arcanum video, then. It should be up by the end of this week.

  • nice job, arcanum would be great to hear.played it few years ago
