A great clip! That was R.G. Armstrong playing the sheriff. He's a great, grizzled character actor who popped up in all the old Westerns and even later on a Dukes of Hazzard episode. Yes, he does look like the sheriff in Chick's THE BROKEN CROSS comic book, with Oates and Fonda perhaps playing scruffier versions of the Crusaders. (Chick's comic is dated 1974 and predates this flick by a year.) Wouldn't this flick make a good double feature with the Shatner-Borgnine epic, THE DEVIL'S RAIN?
