I understand what you mean but the big picture is we Canadians are Americans, because we, like the Mexicans and the US folks, live in North America.
Just like Peru, Argentina folks etc.. are from South America, they are also Americans.
Just like England, Finland, France etc.. are Europeans.
India, Pakistan, China, Japan etc.. are Asians. :)

America and Canada are probably some of the best allies in the world right now. Canada is the # oil supplier for the USA, Canadians love to VISIT America, Canada took care of hundreds of thousands of plane passengers on 9/11 until America could sort things out, and Canadians are much more open-minded than Americans in general. I've been an American all my life, but as soon as I turn 18, I plan to change my citizenship.
Also, Little known fact, basketball was invented by a canadian.
