This song is not just RARE, it's ULTRA RARE. Sometimes, even ardent Judy fans don't know about REVIVAL. I think this is the first time on Youtube. It could be that the existing audio is poor ... I remastered it & compared to the original ... not bad. Recorded by Judy in 1936 or 37, the song 'On Revival Day' was written by Irving Berlin. There are several versions of the lyrics.
The photos I designed with this speak to the Spiritual content of the song ... An Angel With Angels.
RARE audio with graphic photo overlay.

  • Michele - .... each and every time I hear another new "OLD" song that you find of Judy's it makes me close my eyes once again to take that fantastic journey that Judy always takes us on each time she sings, thankyou so much for sharing .

  • @alaric59 I'm so pleased you found this 'buried' treasure. It is one of the oldest & rarest of Judy's recordings, one of my first video posts & ... it's special to me. I have a SMILE today & always. xoxoMichelexoxo

  • This arrangement is so indicative of Judy's beloved musical mentor at MGM - Roger Edens. At 13, Judy was placed under the tutelage of Mr. Edens and that was fate working at its happy best. He understood her capabilities better than anybody else, and pushed his 13 year-old charge to be even better than she already was. This song from Judy (at the ripe-old age of 14!) shows what an incredible vocal gymnast she was - even then. Wonderful graphics Michele! Thanks for the great work!

  • Hello!

Don't you just love a good mystery? ... While there is speculation that Roger Edens did the arrangement ... some things aren't always as they appear ... SMILE.

All you say of Roger Edens is true, but with this song ... there is more to know than what seems to be ...

I'll give 100+ stars to anyone who researches the origin! (Translation: A BIG SMILE)

Thank you for your kind words ... your knowledge of Judy's mentor ... & your Love of this Great Lady!

  • I'm amazed! I never heard this before and had no idea it existed. Thanks so much for posting this. Great graphics as usual. You are very gifted and post great videos on Judy. Thanks again!

  • There's so much of Judy ... after all, she had a 40+ year career ... that has yet to be known & shared with the world.

You are so very welcome ... For Judy.

  • Anybody familiar with Bessie Smith knows this is blasphemy, and I love judy, how this sucks... I can't find a Bessie version. This was a time where they were just telling her what to sing and she was just spitting it back... So sad.

  • Michele, you pan for gold, and get it. THEN to top that,...You SHARE it w/ us!The only other version of this tune I've heard, even have the 78, is by Bessie Smith toward the end of her career, & w/ a chorus backup. It's wonderful, but to hear Judy perform this more complicated musical arrangement when she was about 13 is Amazing! Thank you for for all you do, seems as though most here are in agreement...You're The Top.

  • Hello Michele! I thought you (and our fellow fans) would enjoy this quote: "Bright. Cheerful. So anxious to please. So eager to work. Couldn't read music, but didn't have to. Her talent was inborn. She had a perfect anatomy for a singer, built around a super muscle of a diaphragm. Her voice was a completely natural and beautiful instrument. She had a wonderful memory. What could I teach her? How to sing a lyric. How to get a meaning across." Roger Edens (1962 interview)

  • the audio isn't bad at all! good job.

  • Thank you so much for this rare gem. I cannot wait for more of Judy to be discovered.

  • Great, thanks for the upload. John
