The Fifth Annual Edwin Taylor Memorial 5K Run and Fitness Walk will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008. Proceeds will benefit music programs at Upper Adams Schools and Oakside Community Park. The event is sponsored by the Oakside Community Park Board of Directors in memory of Edwin Taylor, a beloved Upper Adams resident who volunteered with the Biglerville High School Band and Upper Adams Jaycees for nearly thirty years.
The 5K Run and Fitness Walk was established to honor Edwin Taylor and raise awareness of the importance of good health and the arts, specifically music programs in schools. With Mr. Taylor's support, local area school bands have received state and nation-wide recognition thanks to its strong music program. Live music to entertain all participants will be performed by three local bands from 9:00am to 11:30am.
The event features four fun and competitive races for people of all ages at the Oakside Community Park's scenic track. Food concessions will be available, and BBQ Chicken dinner tickets may be purchased in advance at the Oakside Park office.
