Starring GoogieWithεrs, BεatricεLilliε, ClivεBrook and RolandCulvεr, this adaptation of the sparkling play by FrεdεrickLonsdalε falls short in almost every way. ClivεBrook, who also did the screenplay, for some reason changed the time line to the Victorian era ~ one of many unfortunate changes to a brilliant play, in my opinion. However it is certainly interesting to watch, if only to see the young GoogieWithεrs and one of the few screen appearances by BεatricεLilliε ~ and to compare it to the far superior 1982 version of the play (which is available to watch here at Steff's Stuff). :o)
Thank you for the opportunity of seeing this wonderful film. What a cast! I also love the one with Penelope Keith.

@Henrymurray100 You are welcome. It's always fun to compare adaptations, isn't it?

Thank you so much for posting this. What a delightful film! The cast plays it to perfection and Beatrice Lillie is an absolute joy to watch.

@aldiboronti You are very welcome! Personally I preferred the Penelope Keith version, but that is largely because it is almost verbatim as the play was written. I confess that I am such a fan of the play I sent off for the actual Lonsdale play. Do watch the 1982 version if you get the chance ~ it's at my channel. Enjoy!
