  • Brilliant Brilliant Console! The demise of the Original console (after) 'Inferno' was sad indeed! Can't wait to see more of it!!Have you heard yet the original 'Hum' on DVD extra? (Web Planet) Now that would be something!! How did you achieve the circular lights on the console panel? Best!!!

  • Hi there,

I've not got the Web Planet DVD so I've not yet heard that original hum noise (it's not on those 'Early Years' CDs is it?).

As for the circle of lights, I saw fleeting glimpses of them in Hartnell and Pertwee stories and thought "YES! I must incorporate something like that!!" Ultimately, to avoid faffing with microchips and stuff, I used a sequence of LEDs off four novelty 'santa' hats that I got for £1 each in Leeds!!

  • I searched for years for original 60's interior 'Hum' not available on ANY cd: only Web Planet DVD, beleive me it's great! Would love to see more of the console controls!! Best B.

  • Well when the DVD is released, there's an extra on there that looks closely at the design and building of the console!! Good times!! I might post it on YouTube so long as it's not too long!!

  • You really should get the ORIGINAL Tardis 'Hum' sound: It's an Extra on the 'Web Planet@ DVD THAT console! Well it's out of this world!! Meters/Dials/Blinking lights/proper 'switches' I love it-can we see more of the console????

  • LOL! Funnily enough, being an 'anniversary' story, I opted for mainly background/TARDIS sounds from the early '60s, off the 'Early Years' / 'Devils' Planet' CD. The console was designed accordingly. Here the TARDIS is in flight, though, so I used a more dynamic sound!!

As for seeing more of the console, the two 60-sec previews feature broader shots but they're brief!! The full serial has longer Console Room shots so I'll keep you posted re:initial screenings!

    Thanks for your appreciation, too!

  • any chance u sending me it , cause i really want it lol

  • Hi there! With this being an anniversary story (albeit intended for the 40th not 45th anniversary!) I wanted to use some authentic '60s sounds for the production, so I got the 'Doctor Who at the Radiophonic Workshop' CDs (Vol.1 and 2).

On them are several TARDIS dematerialisation sounds including a full version of the usual sound plus an unused original version from 1963 where the 'VWORPS' are less often. The sound on this teaser is the two effects overlaid onto each other!

  • heya m8 ...can u tell me how u made the sound of the tardis being controled it sounds great

  • Yeah, I thought that, too, but when we tried it on the day the console caused too much mains hum in the mic-lead and we had to get cracking so we did without. I don't think it's too bad... honest! ;-)

Thanks for the encouraging compliments, too!
