A dream come true for actress Alice Cannon

Since before she can remember, Alice Cannon has spent summers in Dennis. The Rochester, N.Y., native first came to the house her parents rented on Corporation Road more than six decades ago, when she was just a year old.
When Cannon returned to Dennis this summer, she carried with her a special thrill: the knowledge that come August, she would step on the Cape Playhouse stage for the first time as Ethel in Smokey Joes Café, which opens Aug. 17. This is a dream come true — its like dying and going to heaven, she says.
