  • Awesome video though BTW your very helpful, if you look at my video I don't thank anyone in specific but I learned what I have so far from watching videos like this on youtube.

  • @irishbmx

Once again, the retort method just simply doesnt have the output capability that the direct method does!

  • it really depends on the size of your barrel, in my big one, 4x4 is fine. It takes a little practice to watch the heat over the way but a few burns will give you a feel for it.

  • Thanks for taking the time to show us all this stuff. I love the cats! The 'Jay' videos reminds my of an older friend who has gone on. Dumb question, can I use this charcoal for grilling chicken or barbecue, or will it give off pine resin flavors? Also, can you show us how to forge a knife blade from a steel bar or file? NC boys want to know what GA boys have already figgered out!! :)

  • Hah, you've just got to many yankees diluting that pure Southern blood! Once the wood has been coaled properly, all that tar and resin is gone. After the day is done, I have a grill that folds down over my forge. Its deer season and let me tell you, we cook every night!

Now as far as knives, Im going to nudge you to the website, we are making a new dvd that you will be interested in!

  • dude thanks so much since i work with a tree removal service(its just my dad and me)charcoal is best for me i used a 55 gallon barrel didnt have a lid bur used a peice of aluminum over the top and used bradford pear limbs got a 25% return thanks to you

  • great information!!

  • Hmmm, he keeps looking at that cat! Will he cook the cat? Dude, don't cook the cat or the puppy!!! Thanks for the information that you have shared with us. :o)

  • Whats the maximum heat of charcoal? (using a lighter or something)

  • @purgatoryironworks sorry I don't know the difference between the methods why I was asking new to this.

  • Hmmm maybe your doing it a different way then me I throw the barrels on bon fires or in a firepit made for them and I feed the "vent" into the heart of the fire so I actually get no air inside the barrel, the fumes/waste from the barrel get forced out and into the fire and actually ignite themselves.

It prolly takes allot longer then your method but I can mix sizes just fine and I get no ash 100% charcoal everytime.

Or am I just getting lucky :P

  • ha ha ha i have a couple chiwas too! im looking for a foam chihuahua head for some lost foam casting
