'Off of' is perfectly grammatical. Chalk it up to dialectal differences, I guess.

@TheBataababy Actually the original would be either Frankie Valli or the Letterman.
What always tickles me is that Americans like Valli and Sinatra sing it as "off of you" (and so does Joanna) but Brits like Englebert Humperdinck and Kiki Dee leave out the "of" because it's not grammatical. There's another Chinese singer, Zhang Fei, who splits the difference and does it as "Can't Take My Eyes Over You".
