  • stop complaining folks. this show is just great. dave is a mixing engineer and not a youtube moderator. he is doing this for us cause he has a passion for the craft. best thing on the net!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for another episode of Pensados Place! but I can't understand why they played excerpts from old shows, that time could have been spent doing atleast another Dave Q n A and learned NEW things, we already have access to those old shows, as great as they are. :)

    My 2 cents.

Also, how about an ITL on cleaning up a mix, or EQ of some sort.

  • that drumbrella is pretty nuts

  • i like your spectrum analyzer

  • I agree, stop complaining. We are incredibly lucky to have this amazing resource in the first place. Can't get enough of this show!

  • FYI, I wasn't complaining about the show, as I did enjoy this episode. Just disagree about brick-walling the bus. But kudos to getting Eric onboard

  • @blacknight811 I like everything. And I like the show as well as all of the other production podcasts. While it's fun seeing how mixing icons work, I still believe that the have a duty to sound quality itself. After all, this is what we're talking about. Motown did it, and that's some of the best music ever produced, ut at the same time it was mostly a few room mics and a plate. Layering samples and effects as deep as a Pensado does, brinking it just makes it sound thin when I turn it down.

  • @theperish sorry... loudness won! I don't know what kind of music you're listening to, but popular music are played loud!

  • Yea this was the first episode that threw me off a little bit....starting falling apart with all the editing on the first interview...........still the best show on the net for engineering though!!!!

    Can't wait for mixfest!!

  • In regards to the defeatist loudness wars views @ 9:00:

The bulk of music made today isn't competing for radio play and will never receive it even if it were. Plz just focus on creating dynamic, original art, and focus more on technique and approach rather than presets and go-to frequencies.

If you don't turn it down, then the listener will - and what do you have left then? A stiff, crowded mix that doesn't push speakers in a musical way. Enter file compression and you have is muddy rumbling.
