Animation showing Basin 1 and Basin 2 of Lake Whatcom depicting changes in temperature (contour lines), dissolved oxygen concentration (background color, blue/violet = high, red = 0) and total phosphorus concentration (dots red = high, blue/violet = 0). Each frame represents a three hour interval. To help see where you are in the year the fast changing pie chart is a day clock and the slow moving one is a year clock.
The data respresents what model results based on estimated loading as the water shed is fully built out as descirbed in the study report found at http://www.ecy.wa.gov/biblio/0803024.html
The sound track represents status of the water colum from the deepest segments of basin 1 (Right Ear) and basin 2 (Left Ear) with different sounds for the different parameters. The choir ahs provide something like the background of the visual depiction. The highest, median and lowest oxygen levels are selected and voiced to make chords that would represent the range to be found in the water column. Every time the chord changes the piano sound emphasizes the change. The twangy stringed instrument represents temperature. The vibraphone represent Total Phosphorus.
