  • @Rossco139 I'm just going from what I've experienced first hand with being around M1s, and from what veterans say about the rifle, and nothing points toward the M1 clip sound being a problem.

I mean if I cant even hear the ping sound at a mere 20 yards in quiet conditions, what hope would the enemy have at hearing it at 100-200 yards (average combat distance for firefights) with the full sounds of a warzone?

  • *ping*

    Shivers ^^

  • pew pew pew PLING

    yep that's an M1 xD

  • @TheWolskibothers I dont need to believe you, since A. its complete nonsense, B. I've been collecting and shooting Garands for years, C. am part of the California Historical Group (CHG). D. have been reenacting with Garands in platoon sized reenactments, and have 2 grandfathers who were in WWII with the M1, and have been around WWII vets all my life.....No, the clip sound was only heard withis a few feet, less if there was alot of gunfire, it was only a problem in room clearing

  • @LoneWolf051 its fine you don't have to believe me just talk to all the dead GI's ow wait nevermind

  • @TheWolskibothers lol @ heard for MILES!!! yeah right, lmao

  • @LoneWolf051 Ask A former nazi solider I did he said "the sound of the ping from 20 guns could be heard for miles" yes he said this but I responded with "and yet we still won right" he said "yes and I'm glad you did"

  • @nakazatoGTR yeah in rare close combat situations you could fool the enemy with empty clip sounds

  • @LoneWolf051 gramps told me they kept clips so they can fool japs they were empty, by slamming the empty clips anywhere hard enough, makes a ping noise, when the enemy peeped to shoot, BAM....

    greetings from the philippines.

  • Lovely rifle :) I know what you mean about the "ping". The only time I would think it'd be a problem is in the event you are being pinned by just one or a few combatants, in a relatively small engagement. If the enemy knew what that sound meant, they very well could "catch you on the reload". However, with the tremendous noice of combat, I doubt it was ever very problematic when shooting at realistic ranges, like someone else mentioned.
