This video shows hybrid rendering in our Material editor. Ray tracing is done through our own library ForgottenLIB and the rest is upon our own engine Otte Engine.
In this first video we focused on plausible shadows that are generated by 1 spot area light source. Whole performance differs a lot based upon current model/texture.
Hybrid rendering allowed us to create plausible shadows along with complex shading models (Oren-Nayar diffuse model + Cook Torrance specular model). Althought this is not smooth real time rendering, we're getting closer to finally approach it - our test machine wasn't any huge beast - Core 2 duo at 2.67Ghz; 2GB or RAM and GeForce 8600GTS.
Music in this video is Princess Mononoke (melody)
Cottage model on the beginning by OGI
