Yeah as an American who lived in korea for 5 years I can say YES its a cultural thing.. A Korean helping out a westerner.... GOSH I Miss me some Kalbi.. SOO GOOOD.

It's part of the Korean culture (which I've grown to love as an American-born Korean girl)~ Getting fed by the ahjummahs (older mother/ladies) makes the food taste better to me!
