This is one of my favorite Chorus Line songs. The first time I heard it I was crying by the end. I could identify with the not being pretty.

@koalasarah I don't know if this has been answered. in this 3,389th performance, when ACL became the longest running show on Broadway, 338 performers who'd been in the show up until then participated in the "gala performance", and the cast changed throughout the evening. For the end of "Ballet", a different cast stepped in for the next section of the show. (It was a smooth transition, but an odd one, since the 3 girls who sang didn't get to enjoy their proper applause.)

"This Sheila" - who is the marvellous Kelly Bishop, by the way - originated the role and won a Tony. Her voice is not "pretty" but it IS quintessential Shiela, and her acting makes any of her vocal imperfections entirely beside the point. No one's even come CLOSE to touching Kelly's performance since, IMHO.
