it doesn't show silat at all, the uploader don't have any idea about the essence of silat at all. Even many of silat fighter and master don't know it. silat is not technics of punching, kicking, grapling, chock or tackling. silat even more then just show of speed and power. the essence of silat is mind deception, mind divertion and hipnotize the enemy with its movement. the target of silat isn't hurting enemies but killing them. so the real silat can't be show in competition,

@SuperPasdaran This video is just about playing around for the fun of it. This is not how we practise normally. Have you ever considered beating an opponent without killing? In my opinion it requires much more selfcontrol and technique. Killing someone is also something you can't undo afterwards and may get you in jail. Unless I have no other choice I will use non-lethal techniques.

I do not know about the nowaday form of Karaté. What I do know is that is NOT a demonstration of Pentjak Silat.

1 Footwork does not belong within the lankah's of PS

2 There's no balance and no usage of kuda.

3 Hand techniques are not similar to PS

4 Practioners don't jump around like some bunny.

5 Defensive is boxing stance.

In a nutshell, except 2 kicks and 1 punch. This is boxing.

Well, techniquely you're right. It's Pukulan. And indeed our style makes heavy use of boxing techniques. Still, our basic techniques are based on Pencak Silat.

As to jumping around like some bunnies: have you ever seen PS competitions? 90% of the competitors hop around. Or they are trying their best to take stances that don't really work.

You have to split PS in to 2 forms:

- Selfdefense

- Sports

maybe the man in black is practising silat.. and to compete with a karatekas in a sports competition, one must abandon their true style..silat comes in two forms - self defence and sports( pencak silat olahraga) telling the truth- there's many pencak silat olahraga's champion in southeast asia, didn't learn or finish their course in the traditional silat styles .

Silat is indeed a true self defense art with little to no emphasis on point sparring like u see in this vid. Obviously it's some sort of exhibition vs a real street encounter, otherwise u would see throws, locks sweeps, etc.

but actualy in fact, even on competition, there is no practioners can show the real one,..silat movement is to kill your enemy, in the minimum move,..

Ups, and the most important things: "pencak" in english means "dance". Pencak Silat = The Dance of Silat...So, its art...
