head in the right place that night who had Chavez ahead. What is boxing is the question.. It is a point associated match btw 2 combatants but its also a fight. And in a fight like this one the more severely damaged fighter.. How can someone say he is the winner meaning mel obviously.. People should watch the fight in real time not on legendary nights and really pay attention. Mel was hurting from rd 5 on.. Chavez just had heavier hands/thicker bone structure who knows? its hilarious to me that these commentators were stating that Mel was dominating... Its pure b.s bc while he might have been landing a high volume of shots he was also absorbing a tremendous amount of punishment which was evident at the end of rd 7. Blood from nose/mouth facial swelling etc.. Boxing is not just judged on volume there are other judging criteria like damage and power shots. Man, I think they were both strong, willing, and determined fighters.
But damn, that referree was like a futurist. He was the only one who knew that Medrick was taking a serious beating. Its like he knew how Mederick would end up so he gave the match to Julio. It would look strange if Mederick won, and to then see the brutality he would go through and the beating Julio took and made it look small.

If you look closely, Chavez was looking at Taylor while Dteele was asking Taylor if he was ok. Chavez sees Taylor is not responding and begins celebrating before Steele waved the fight off. It boggles my mind how people want to rationalize rules. Taylor didnt respond. End of story.
