yes, I welded on a new plate and cut slotted holes to allow for chain adjustment.

I have to add that while 11 hp would make for a fun mini bike, it would most likely have a larger output shaft. Most clutches will not fit. You will need either a special clutch or, you will need to rig up an intermediate shaft (jack shaft) to adapt down to a size that you can find a clutch setup for. Not impossible, but will be a little more work.
I wish you luck and if you get it going, be sure to get a video of it.

I got my 8 hp at a tractor sales dealer.
I would like to change the gearing a little but It would not be safe to ride if it went much faster. 42 mph is pretty good.

I traded one of my old tractors for the minibike which had a broken engine. I bought a brand new engine at a Tractor dealer. I reused most of the parts from the minibike. I just had to weld a new engine mount plate on which I made from scrap and weld relocated foot pegs on because the 8hp covered the old footpegs and you could not get your feet on them. Read the previous posts please.

Depends on how much you can beg borrow and steal. I Bought the engine new for my boys Go cart for about 350 bucks. Then I traded an old tractor for the minibike that had a blown engine but good clutch. The bike was probably worth 100 to 200 bucks as was. The Comet clutch, new, goes about 200, so I got a good deal. Only other things I bought was new throttle cable, some scrap metal pieces and chain. Probably got about 500 or so into it and 10 hrs of fab time.
