@benjy1966 If you think waves from a yacht like this is big, you are in for a rude awakening. Also, Really? they should be banned? What happened to cruise ships? They are much bigger and burn much more fuel than this does, so I do not see your point. If someone can afford it, then why not reap the benefits of their hard work!?

These superyachts return much more to the economy than other things that the wealthy may spend money on. Consider the shipyard workers and the crewmembers, just to mention a few, who feed their families because of these boats. Let the rich spend all they want on things that give back to the economy.

I reckon, once one gets rich - and I mean REAL RICH! - one starts to want real rich things: yachts, airplanes, special cars, and so on...
But still I wonder: what's the purpose? What's the point?
I' really not a socialist, comunist or populist, but in a world of pain, sorrow, hunger, desease and illiteracy, I suspect that a wealthy person should focus on that! It's our human responsability and THAT would make these people's wealth grand and mighty! Not these - pardon me -hilarious yachts...
