Every businessman knows that money saved up in a bank is practically dead money. It's like hoarding apples off a tree and not trading them, they will rot and lose their value as food. I think that when the rich do spend money, they spend big not specifically because it is impressive,I think they believe that this money will filter through the economy and provide jobs. If they spent little to nothing,there would be no jobs or money in the economy AND THEN you will have something to complain about

I reckon, once one gets rich - and I mean REAL RICH! - one starts to want real rich things: yachts, airplanes, special cars, and so on...
But still I wonder: what's the purpose? What's the point?
I' really not a socialist, comunist or populist, but in a world of pain, sorrow, hunger, desease and illiteracy, I suspect that a wealthy person should focus on that! It's our human responsability and THAT would make these people's wealth grand and mighty! Not these - pardon me -hilarious yachts...

These superyachts return much more to the economy than other things that the wealthy may spend money on. Consider the shipyard workers and the crewmembers, just to mention a few, who feed their families because of these boats. Let the rich spend all they want on things that give back to the economy.

When u got rich, what you do is up to you. You can buy a yacht or an island or give all your money to the poor. No one can dictate what you should do.

The point of buying this yacht is many. u can show off, how rich you are (in animal world it's equal how strong you are); you can tell your business partner you have money and they should trust you; you can take a real f..king trip to Atlantis ocean in a floating castle, that's pure enjoyment.

Rote, you must get loaded rich, buy stuff like this yacht, sit in it alone or realize all the people there only like your cash... then what?

There is a problem with your statement. Most of the money supplied to impoverished people makes them even more impoverished through government corruption and dependence on foreign aid rather than self sustenance. It is better for corporations to spend money by employing people to do work for them. This includes building boats for rich people. They did earn this money somehow and it probably wasn't very easy. It's not in our interests to question people's wealth also unless you are envious.
